I'M A HUMAN BEING!

I recently discovered the blog Go Backstage  which covers the lives of models during runway shows and photo shoots in the fashion world. How. Interesting.  This blog is neither though provoking or inspiring, but is mildly entertaining in that it is like watching America's Next Top Model... but on mute. Which is actually 100x better.
In the 2 days of exploring this blog, this is what I have learned:

1.) Models are funny too.

... or at least think they are...

2.)  The majority (or which I like to believe) are not attractive in real life.
Yeesh.

3.)  Have a thing for mustaches?  (see image #1 as well.)

4.)  All look the same...

5.)  And really do live up to their reputation...

And yes. I will continue to read it.  Angrily scrolling and thinking of reasons why they suck.  Yet are so. Beautiful. ugh.

HALLOWEEN!!!!!!

It's here! It's here!!! It's finally hereeeeeeee!!!!!! What says Halloween better than some sweet transvestites from transsexual Transylvania?

Fall / Winter 2010

I wish I could justify purchasing another "winter" coat this year... but between the two trends I chose the leopard faux fur instead of an oversized Crombie coat.

Did I make the right decision?....

What / who brought back leopard?  Where did it go, besides Madison Avenue old women walking around with their little shizu puppies or the women dancing at the GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS club down the street from my best friend's apartment?  Yes, I did have Steve Madden leopard pumps in 2006.  But I hid those in the back of my closet from 2007-late Summer 2010.

Whoever did it, my wallet is very angry at you.  The next addition to my feline collection will be the lovely Alexander Wang Cher Large Siamese Clutch in Leopard.  (or a less expensive knock off.)
Oh you fancy, huh?

This lil guy will look great next to my leopard faux fur coat AND my leopard faux fur stole.
Yes I need both.

Take It Easy

Well you know we got it easy

hello, my name is..and pumpkins

It doesn’t take a lot to realize that the trade off of living in LA, with its tirelessly warm days, is the lack of any kind of significant change in season. I moved here from Chicago, where the changing seasons were as comforting as Lou Malnati's pizza or local political scandal, and since arriving in LA, it has thus become my mission to restore that deeply satisfying sense of time passing that I once was able to get from nature. LA seems to be filled with similar seasonally-deprived wish seekers such as myself, as evident from the intense effort that is made to bring attention to the time of year through fashion, holiday celebrations, and most importantly...food. I’ve personally found food to be the most deeply satisfying and it is through this ticking clock of produce, tomatoes here one moment, gone the next, that I have been able to (slightly) appease my longing for winter, spring, and fall...

And it is fall...so obviously...pumpkins....

Although I will generally take french fries over chocolate cake any day, pumpkins seem to be only done justice through desserts. Something feels so wrong about pumpkin soup...

Whoopie pies are a Northeast tradition that has only recently spread West. I made this (http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/pumpkin-whoopie-pies/Detail.aspx) recipe, and despite my aversion to sugar, these suckers came out pretty good. I do think I'd try this (http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/mini-pumpkin-whoopie-pies) version next time though. Or frosting with cream cheese.... x

A-Z

My favorite radio station in LA did "The Sound's A to Z" where they played their whole inventory of music in alphabetical order- of songs.
Listening has made each car ride to work very entertaining, guessing what song is going to be next.
I decided to try this with my own iTunes.  Sorting alphabetically by song title has proved to provide the most diversity listening.  When you turn shuffle on, I'll hear the same band probably 4 times in 30 minutes.  Annoying.
When I first viewed my beginning of the A-Z journey of my music library, I got so jacked to start listening.
So many good songs!
Here's a look--

1. A- Punk - Vampire Weekend
2. Abbey Road Medley - The Beatles
3. Abducted - Dane Cook (Retaliation: Want) (mediocre)
4. About An Hour Ago - O.A.R ( I haven't heard this song since Sophomore year of HS)
5. About Mr. Brown - O.A.R (2 appearances in top 5... I guess not that diverse)
6. Abra Cadaver - The Hives
7. Absolute Beginners - David Bowie
8. Accidentally In Love - Counting Crows (yeah! Shrek!)
9. Achilles Last Stand - Led Zeppelin (rad)
10. Acid Queen - The Who

Definitely something I recommend when you're bored with your music selection and need a revamp!

Eye Candy

How wonderful is this image and the makeup?  I wish I could wear my makeup like this in real life and not look like a Drag Queen...

"Photographer Gaetan Caputo captures Helene Desmettre in bold and vibrant looks for the October edition of L’Officiel Ukraine. Aided by hair stylist Philippe Gonay and makeup artist Olivier Baille, Caputo creates a story of opulent glamour styled by Lea De Nesle."

Poncho Me

I must purchase these ASAP.  You can probably obtain the same look with a large scarf... or picnic blanket.. but regardless I am way in to the poncho revival.
Being Mexican also helps me pull off this look.

I Love Lamp

Crystals, prisms, diamonds, sequins. All that I long for in life.   I have been searching for a vintage lamp for the better half of the year, waiting for the perfect one to come up.  A couple months ago I found this beautiful antique lamp at the Fairfax Swap meet.  $40 later I walked away with this crystal and gold lamp base.  Sans lamp shade.  I also found a lady selling antique chandelier prism pieces.  I bought $50 worth of strands.  I stood there for about 15minutes making each strand equal length, getting my monies worth and making sure whatever I chose to create after this purchase looked legit.
Last week I FINALLY found a lampshade that fit to my liking.  I hung the chandelier strands from the lamp (as seen above) and voila!

Hope you dig!

I Can DO THAT. - Sienna Miller

All that's missing is Jude.

This look is so simple, yet so chic and fashionable.  All you need is a short, loose fitting dress, and heeled- ankle booties.  I wore this with a black knit Zara dress and Zara chain booties. Easy.
