It is now time to start thinking about what to wear to all the holiday work, friend, and family parties coming up... and I'm really tired of the conservative standard black dress I have to wear (ie- my Mom purchasing for me from Ann Taylor Loft or J. Crew and I feel guilty not wearing it.)
So, this year, I'm planning in advance. As much as 5 days from Thanksgiving is preparing in advance.
I've always been one who is EXTREMELY jealous of not being able to attend events that are suitable for evening gowns. Why are they taboo in any situation other than walking down a red carpet or some sort of large sum of money being thrown around at a charity?
So this Holiday season- I am putting my foot down. I am throwing the taboo out the window. NO. I am not "too dressed up" to go to Nana's house just for dinner and opening presents. NO. I'm not "toooo dressed up" to go to SoHo House for the company holiday dinner.
Eff that. I am ONLY focusing finding a dress gown that touches the ground. I am also keeping this standard for New Years.
Here are a few of my inspirations, and then the realistic, more costly, look for less---

Emma Roberts at the Lanvin and H&M Haute Couture auction for UNICEF. So cute and love the belt w. the gold shoes.
Now here is what I found from my favorite site ASOS.com

I stumbled upon this gorg editorial of Tanga Moreau on FashionGoneRogue.com, where Tanga poses for Harper’s Bazaar Spain December 2010 by Nico.
This amazing gown combines the look I want to go for, along with my favorite- sequinssss.
I think the huge SLIT in the dress is a little much for Christmas dinner with the fam.. but would be fantastic for NYE.
Here's what I've had my eye on for the last 3 months on ASOS.com--that would be a close replica to Tanga's Balmain dress.

Love it.
A more flirty look I would go with would be the ASOS Heavy Draped Maxi Dress in Berry

Here's another look from Harper’s Bazaar Spain December 2010 via FashionGoneRogue.com--
And here from ASOS.com.
This look is very elegant, yet the "wet" look gives it an edginess that would work great for NYE.
I REALLY wish I was comfortable (and tall enough) to wear a white long gown for the holidays as well... here's one of my favorites.. of course from ASOS...
Any way you choose to wear it, I think a beautiful evening gown is a great look for this holiday season!
